Depending on your instalation you may not be able to use a 3" vent pipe.

The chart below depicts the "unadjusted" vent pipe length allowed by vent size.

The "total adjusted" vent pipe length is affected by changes any in elevation, elbows,
horizontal sections, offsets or tees used in your installation.
