HAE Heat Recovery Ventilator Features

Building codes require outside fresh air to be supplied into a dwelling and for the sake of comfort, this air is to be tempered. HOYME Motorless Air Exchanger (HAE) does this and more. It also tempers cold air before it enters the area of the furnace fan and therefore protects
furnace parts. No need for expensive electric heaters or special motors to service or wear out.
With the HAE, there are no moving parts, the furnace fan does it all. Using the furnace fan
also guarantees the HAE remains operational at all times.

While fresh, warm air is supplied through the Air Exchanger into the heating system, moist
stale air is exhausted through a separate duct. The exchange of air, according to calculations,
is approximately 100 to 120 cu. ft/minute, depending on the static pressure of the furnace fan.
The area of heat transfer in the unit is over 3000 sq.in. plus another 3000 sq.in. when using at least a total of 15 ft. of concentric ducting connected to and from the unit. As a result, heat transfer proves to be very high as shown in test reports. e.q. Outside temperature of -30 C
(-22F) enters the return plenum at +14 C (+57 F). This incoming air is preheated solely by the heat transfer of exhausting air and therefore receiving warm fresh air at minimum cost.

The exhausting of stale, moist air while the furnace is firing defrosts any ice build-up in the unit with the extra heat being brought back into the system. Excess moisture is drained off through a plastic hose directed to a drain. Multiple 2" diameter aluminum ducts inside the unit eliminate plugging and therefore guarantee a continual flow of fresh inlet air and a continual exhausting of moist stale air through all kinds of weather. Exhaust fans from bathrooms, kitchens and other areas can also be directed through the HAE unit by the addition of an optional kit having a back-draft damper and a 'Y' connection.

THE HAE-2000-100' unit is 14" x 13" x 52" and handles up to 120 cu.ft./min. The 'HAE-2000-200' unit is 14" x 16" x 52" and handles up to 220 cu.ft./min. Both units come with; Double intake/exhaust hood, 8" and 5" diameters for the '100' size and 9" and 5" for the '200' size; Double return/supply plenum connector, 8" and 5" diameters or 9" and 5" diameters; Balance manual damper, 5"diameter; 4' of silver flex, 5" diameter; metal hanger brackets and
15' of 1/2" plastic drain hose. Installer to supply 5" dia. and 8" dia. flex ducting as required. Satisfaction is guaranteed.

The regular commercial 'HAE-2000-500' is 14" x 23" x 100" and handles up to 500 cu.ft./min. This unit has two 8" dia. intakes and two 8" dia. exhaust ports projecting out both ends. C/W 15' of 1/2" plastic drain hose and four metal hanger brackets. Installer to supply 8" dia. ducting, two all-weather hoods, manual balancing damper and other necessary connectors for intake and exhaust. Fans may also be necessary if not connecting to a forced air heating system
