In a EPA Legislated area you can legally burn wood only to start the coal stove.
Which is the reason why most of the manufactures stating they are coal stoves.

As a coal stove is not designed to provide the proper secondary burning
of the gasses created during the wood burning process.

Doing so will result in shorter burn times per volume of wood burned and
more emmisions out the appliance chimney.

So is not practical or efficeint to purchase a coal stove to burn only wood.
