The P4 requires one of the following forms of hearth protection
if not installed directly on concrete poured on earth:
1) The factory provided hearth pad can be installed
to satisfy the floor protection requirement,
2) A certified non-combustible hearth pad with a minimum R Value of at least 0.84

Factory Hearth Protector Installed

If the factory hearth pad is not installed as per manual instructions,
the unit must be installed with a minimum of 6” of floor protection
in front of and to the sides of the door opening.
